Special Provisions

Students ages 5 to 21 who have not graduated from high school are entitled to a free public education in Victoria ISD if they meet the age requirements for enrollment on September 1 of the current school year. They must reside within the district's attendance boundaries and provide satisfactory evidence of required immunizations. Nonresident students may attend if they have an approved transfer (see "Student Transfers").

Who May Enroll a Minor Child?

For many reasons related to student safety and welfare, as well as information validity and accuracy, the VISD requests that the person enrolling a minor child should be the child's parent or other person with legal control of the child under a court order or a caregiver presenting a notarized power of attorney. The District will record the name, address, and date of birth of the person enrolling the student and require a copy of the parent/guardian's photo ID.

The absence of a parent, guardian, or other person with legal control of a child under a court order is not grounds for refusing admission to which the child is entitled under TEC 25.001.

Student Engaged in Misconduct

Students who have moved into the District, are living separate and apart from their parent/legal guardian and who have engaged in misconduct that resulted in any of the consequences found in Education Code 25.001(d) shall NOT be permitted to attend a VISD school. Reference FD (LEGAL).

The District is not required to admit such person if the person has:

  • Engaged in conduct that resulted in removal to a disciplinary alternative education program or expulsion within the preceding year;

  • Engaged in delinquent conduct or "conduct in need of supervision" and is on probation or other conditional release for that conduct; or

  • Has been convicted of a criminal offense and is on probation or other conditional release.
