Quarterly Newsletter Showcases Student Success, District Achievements, and Resources for Families
Victoria ISD is proud to announce the release of the Fall 2025 edition of the District Digest, a quarterly newsletter that went home with all students last Thursday, September 25. The Digest provides families with key updates, highlights of student success, and important district news. It is also available online in both English and Spanish at www.visd.net/districtdigest.
This fall’s edition includes a message from Superintendent Sheila Collazo, who shares the district’s call to action, focus on excellence, and the importance of academic achievement, attendance, and parent partnership. Families will also find student highlights celebrating the 92 VISD students recognized as AP Scholars, as well as districtwide growth in Advanced Placement, Dual Credit, and Career & Technical Education programs.
The Digest also details major district accomplishments, including recognition as a finalist for Best Place to Work, being named a Best Community for Music Education, and earning multiple distinctions from state and national organizations. On campuses, 100 percent of VISD schools showed growth, with several earning “A” and “B” accountability ratings and statewide distinctions in Reading, Math, Science, and Postsecondary Readiness.
The newsletter also spotlights VISD’s student and family services, such as the more than 2.5 million meals served last year by Child Nutrition, nearly 900,000 miles safely logged by Transportation, and the thousands of families supported by VISD Connections. In addition, it highlights the 10 VISD Values, which students are learning and applying throughout the fall semester to help them grow both academically and as responsible citizens.
The District Digest also includes reminders about district communication tools such as the VISD mobile app, School Matters weekly e-newsletter, and Peachjar community flyers, ensuring parents and guardians can stay informed throughout the school year.
“We publish the District Digest each quarter to keep families connected and informed,” said Ashley Alvarez, Executive Director of Communications. “It brings important updates, student celebrations, and resources straight to parents and guardians in a way that’s easy to access. We are raising the bar and elevating excellence in VISD because our students deserve bold actions, higher expectations, and a future full of opportunity, and this Digest helps ensure every decision starts and ends with students.”
Printed copies of the Fall 2025 District Digest are being sent home with students today. The full edition can be viewed online in English and Spanish at www.visd.net/districtdigest.
