The VISD Insider Academy is a free educational program that will provide VISD-zoned residents with an inside look at your public school district and show you how to get involved!

The course is a series of presentations from various school district departments and ends with a tour of district facilities/campuses. These presentations cover the basic legal and local departmental functions.

SCHEDULE

The VISD Insider Academy will consist of four engaging sessions, to be hosted over four Tuesdays. A fifth session will be available for a facilities tour. The 2025 VISD Insider Academy will be held from January 21-February 11, the tour will take place February 18 and those who attend will be recognized at the February 20 regular monthly school board meeting.

OVERVIEW

Participants will:

  • Meet District Administration and staff

  • Learn how decisions are made with presentations on governance and leadership

  • Hear comprehensive overviews of curriculum, finance, operations, and communications, and student services

  • Participate in discussions

  • Optional tours of district campuses and facilities

  • Be in the know!

APPLICATIONS

Any VISD-zoned resident interested in learning about public education and how your public school district operates is invited to attend. We will accept up to 30 residents as academy participants.

Applications for the 2025 academy will open on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 8 a.m. and close on Friday, Dec. 20 at 2 p.m.

The academy is free to VISD-zoned residents 18 years and older.
