Victoria ISD Communications has partnered with the district’s Career & Technical Education (CTE) Department to launch a new series of CTE Programs of Study videos aimed at better informing students, families, and the community about the wide array of opportunities available to VISD students.
The video series showcases each of the district’s CTE Programs of Study and provides a clear overview of what students can expect when they enroll in a particular pathway—from the hands-on experiences to the industry-based certifications (IBCs) they can earn before graduating.
The first CTE video will debut on June 3, with additional videos launching throughout the rest of the year across VISD’s communication platforms. Families and community members are encouraged to subscribe to Victoria ISD on YouTube and follow VISD on Facebook, as well as visit www.visd.net to stay updated as new videos are released.
CTE Programs of Study are structured sequences of courses within a specific career field, allowing students to build knowledge and skills aligned with postsecondary education and the workforce. These pathways help students graduate with more than a diploma—they can graduate AND meet College, Career, or Military Readiness standards with certifications in hand.
“Our goal is to ensure families and the community have clear, accessible information about the opportunities available to VISD students,” said Ashley Alvarez, Executive Director of Communications. “By creating these videos, we’re striving to connect students and families with the resources they need to make informed decisions about their future.”
The videos feature the following CTE clusters offered at VISD:
Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources
Architecture & Construction
Arts, Audio/Visual Technology & Communications
Business, Marketing & Finance
Education & Training
Engineering
Health Science
Human Services
Information Technology
Law & Public Services
Transportation, Distribution & Logistics
These videos are designed to support middle school and high school students during the late fall/early spring course selection period as they explore and select their courses and programs of study for the upcoming school year.
Industry-Based Certifications (IBCs) earned through CTE programs are recognized by the Texas Education Agency and aligned with local area high-demand occupations. They offer students a competitive edge whether they choose to enter the workforce immediately, enlist in the military, or continue their education at a college or university.
VISD Communications is committed to providing accessible and engaging information about the district’s CTE offerings, empowering students to "Find Their &" by exploring their interests, defining their goals, and graduating with purpose and direction.
