B Smithey

The Victoria ISD Board of Trustees has named Brad Smithey as the new Boys Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach at Victoria East High School.

Smithey brings more than a decade of coaching experience, including previous time in Victoria ISD as Offensive Coordinator at Victoria West High School. During that time, he led a high-performing offense that significantly increased yardage and scoring production while contributing to the overall growth of the program.

“Coach Smithey has demonstrated success in building strong athletic programs and developing student-athletes,” said VISD Athletic Director Spencer Gantt. “His experience, leadership, and familiarity with our district make him a great fit for Victoria East.”

Most recently, Smithey served as an Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Wolfe City High School, where he oversaw all aspects of the athletic program, led teams to playoff appearances, and helped increase student participation and community engagement. His teams produced record-setting offensive performances and multiple academic all-state selections.

Smithey has held coaching positions at West Oso High School and Brazosport High School, where he contributed to program development, implemented high-performing offensive systems, and supported student-athlete success both on and off the field. He also gained experience at the collegiate level and an internship with the Green Bay Packers.

Smithey holds a Master of Science in Sports Studies from Southeastern Oklahoma State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
