sports media day

Victoria ISD Communications hosted its first-ever Student-Athlete Media Day, bringing together 36 student-athletes from Victoria East and West High Schools to create promotional content for the upcoming fall sports season.

Students representing football, cheer, dance, volleyball, cross country, and tennis participated in the event, which included professional photography and video production designed to highlight student achievement and increase community awareness of athletic events throughout the fall semester.

While the event focused on athletics, the purpose extends far beyond competition. Victoria ISD's Student-Athlete Media Day was created to showcase the many ways students excel both on and off the field, court, track, and sidelines. Many participating students are also involved in academic programs, fine arts organizations, leadership activities, clubs, and community service initiatives throughout Victoria ISD and the Victoria community.

"Victoria ISD students are accomplishing incredible things every day, and athletics is just one part of their story," said Ashley Alvarez, Executive Director of Communications & Public Relations. "Media Day gives us an opportunity to highlight the dedication, leadership, academic success, and character of our student-athletes while helping our community connect with the events and experiences that make high school athletics special."

Content captured during Media Day will be used throughout the fall season to promote athletic events, recognize student-athletes, and encourage community support of Victoria East and Victoria West athletic programs.

The initiative also supports the district's commitment to increasing student-centered storytelling by highlighting the achievements, opportunities, and experiences available to Victoria ISD students.

Victoria ISD will expand the program throughout the school year with additional Media Days featuring winter and spring sports, ensuring student-athletes across all athletic seasons have opportunities to be recognized and celebrated.

By showcasing student-athletes and sharing their stories, Victoria ISD hopes to strengthen school pride, increase attendance at athletic events, and celebrate the well-rounded students who represent their schools and community with excellence.
