The Victoria ISD Board of Trustees has approved the hiring of Steven Carroll as the new Director of Secondary Professional and Paraprofessional Talent.

Carroll has more than 30 years of educational experience, all of which have occurred in VISD. After beginning his teaching career at the former Stanly Elementary in 1993, Carroll worked at the former Crain Middle School and a number of VISD elementary schools. Most recently, he has served as the Principal of Dudley Elementary for the last four years. Carroll holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Texas State University and a Master of Education in Administration from the University of Houston-Victoria (UHV).

“Over the last year and a half, under the leadership of Mrs. Tammy Nobles, the TASR Department has made great progress in their operations and system management,” said Carrol. “I'm excited to join our outstanding TASR team and work with them to fulfill our vision of making Victoria ISD the premier district in the state of Texas.”

He will replace Lisa Cortez following her resignation.

Carroll will be responsible for supporting the Executive Director of Talent Acquisition, Support and Retention (TASR) in the overall management of the district’s human resources functions, supporting the strategic planning and implementation of human resources processes for secondary professional staffing, paraprofessional staffing, wage and salary administration, performance appraisal and employee relations and implementing legally sound and effective human resources management programs, policies, and practices.

Tammy Nobles, executive director of TASR, is excited to have Carroll move into this role with VISD. “Mr. Carroll’s wealth of knowledge, vast experiences, and campus leadership success will be so valuable in this role as well as to the strategic planning and transformation the TASR Department is undertaking,” Nobles said. “I am both honored and delighted to have someone of his caliber who already has such a rich history with our district, employees and community joining the TASR team and supporting our staff and students!”
