VISD Summer Meal Program Serves Over 130,000 Meals to Our Community

The VISD Child Nutrition Department has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to ensuring that every child in our community has access to nutritious meals, even when school is not in session.

From May 28 through June 30, our child nutrition team successfully served over 80,000 meals through school site and community partner site locations, as well as the Aloe distribution site. During the second phase of the program, from July 1 through July 26, nearly 50,000 meals were provided, bringing the total to over 130,000 meals served across two months.

This year’s Summer Meal Program continues to thrive and expand, reaching more children and families each year. We are immensely grateful for the opportunity to provide meals to our community throughout the summer. The strong participation in this program underscores its significance and the positive impact it has on our children.

A special thank you goes out to our Child Nutrition Department for their dedication and hard work. Their commitment to each child and family in our community is the cornerstone of the success of our Summer Meal Program.
