attendance

Victoria ISD is committed to ensuring that all students are set up for academic success. One of the most critical factors contributing to a student's achievement is regular class attendance. To support this, VISD is introducing two convenient methods for parents and guardians to notify their child’s campus of student absences and to submit necessary documentation.

This initiative underscores VISD’s commitment to making daily school attendance a top priority for all students and families and the district's goal of ensuring accessibility to information and resources.

Starting Tuesday, Sept. 3, parents/guardians will have two options to report absences:

  • Online Submission: VISD has launched a new online Student Absence Form, available on any VISD website through the Let’s Talk platform. Parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to use the form and may access it by visiting www.VISD.net/absenceform or navigating to the "Contact Us" section of their campus website, or

  • In-Person Submission: Parents/guardians may call the campus front office to notify the school that their child will be late to school or absent; however, a signed parent note or doctor’s note for the absence is still required to be turned in to the campus front office within three days.

If a student is marked absent for a class, parents/guardians who receive campus notifications will be sent an automated notification on the day of the absence that includes absence details and a link to the Student Absence Form, ensuring easy access to submit the required documentation. Daily notifications will be sent via text and email notification for all students who are absent from scheduled classes. If your student is involved in a school or extracurricular event, please disregard this notification.

All absence documentation must be submitted within three days after the student returns to school. If documentation is not received within this timeframe, the absence will remain unexcused.

VISD encourages all parents, guardians, and students to make daily school attendance a top priority. By working together, we can ensure that every student in our district is on the path to success. For more information about the attendance reporting process, please visit the VISD Student Handbook or contact your school attendance office.
