VISD Launches Parent Survey to Shape New Parent University Courses and Structure

To better serve the needs of parents and guardians within our community, VISD is excited to announce the launch of a comprehensive survey to gather valuable input from parents. This feedback will directly influence the creation of courses and the overall structure of our upcoming Parent University initiative.

Parent University is a new program designed to provide parents with the tools, resources, and knowledge to better support their children's education, development, and well-being. The university will offer a range of courses that empower parents to navigate the challenges of modern parenting, engage more deeply in their children’s educational journey, and foster a supportive home learning environment.

The Parent Survey will give parents a voice in shaping the content and format of Parent University. The survey will ask participants to share their thoughts on:

  • The types of courses they believe would be most beneficial (e.g., academic support, mental health, technology use, etc.)

  • Preferred course formats (in-person, online, hybrid)

  • The best schedule and frequency for courses

  • Specific areas of concern or interest that parents want to learn more about

  • How Parent University can help them foster stronger home-school partnerships

All parents and guardians are encouraged to participate in the survey, which is now available online at www.visd.net. The survey will open on Friday, Oct. 11, and will remain open until Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, and responses will be anonymous to ensure honest and candid feedback.

Once the survey results are collected, VISD will analyze the data to design a curriculum that is responsive to parent needs. The courses offered through Parent University will cover a variety of topics aimed at empowering parents to become more involved in their child’s academic success and well-being. Updates on the program and course offerings will be shared with the community next spring.
