UNITY DAY

In a unified stand against bullying, Victoria ISD is proud to participate in PACER's National Bullying Prevention Month this October, highlighted by Unity Day on October 16, 2024. As part of a national campaign initiated by PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center, VISD aims to enhance awareness and foster environments of kindness, acceptance, and inclusion throughout the district.

Every October, schools and communities across the United States come together under PACER’s initiative to engage in activities designed to address bullying and provide actionable strategies to prevent it. Unity Day, a cornerstone event of the month, encourages participants to wear orange, symbolizing solidarity against bullying and a commitment to creating a world without it.

Victoria ISD’s efforts are aligned with the goals of the National Bullying Prevention Center, emphasizing a collaborative and proactive approach to bully prevention. Throughout the month, VISD will host a series of events and educational activities aimed at empowering students, educators, and community members to prevent bullying and support those who have been affected.

“We are committed to ensuring that every child feels safe at school and online. Our participation in National Bullying Prevention Month and Unity Day is a reflection of our ongoing dedication to fostering a supportive school culture where every student can thrive,” said VISD Director of Counseling Brandi Henke.

Key initiatives this October will include school-wide assemblies, peer-led workshops, and the distribution of educational resources focused on managing bullying situations effectively and promoting peer support. These activities are designed to educate and engage students in a dialogue about the importance of kindness and the powerful impact of collective action.

The district’s commitment extends beyond just a month of activities. VISD continues to implement comprehensive anti-bullying policies and programs that are integral to the district’s educational mission, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students throughout the year.
