Victoria Independent School District (VISD) wishes to inform the community about the 2024 Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE) results. The proposed tax rate increase did not receive the required voter approval.

As a result, the district will maintain the state-compressed Maintenance & Operations tax rate of $0.6969 per $100 of appraised taxable property value. This will necessitate continuing with the 2024-25 Compensation Plan, Version One, approved by the Board on May 16. Accordingly, staff pay will remain at the levels outlined in this plan.

"We respect the decision of our voters and understand their perspectives," said Randy Meyer, interim superintendent and deputy superintendent of VISD. "While this was not the outcome we had hoped for, our commitment to providing the best educational environment and support for our staff remains unchanged."

The district recognizes the importance of managing its resources efficiently and effectively. In the coming weeks, we will explore alternative opportunities to ensure that our commitment to education and student well-being is not compromised.

"We are grateful for the dedication our community and staff show towards the education and development of our students," Meyer added. "Together, we will continue to pursue excellence and make a positive impact despite financial constraints."

We thank you for your continued commitment and support. VISD remains dedicated to excellence in education and to serving our community.
