Recognizing the critical role of family engagement in shaping student success, VISD Connections teamed up with VISD’s Early Childhood Department to proudly announce the launch of the "Stronger Together Parents" (STP) series, a transformative initiative aimed at empowering McKinney-Vento and foster care families.
The STP series is designed to provide parents and guardians of Pre-K through second grader students with essential knowledge, resources, and support to address the unique challenges they face. Through engaging workshops, expert-led sessions, and practical tools, the series equips families to foster their children’s early education, enhance school readiness, and support overall well-being.
“Our mission is to create a collaborative community where families feel empowered, supported, and confident in their ability to advocate for and engage in their children’s education,” said Carol Dippel, Early Childhood Coordinator. “When parents are equipped with the right tools and knowledge, students achieve greater success in school and beyond.”
Key Objectives of the 'Stronger Together Parents' Series
Enhancing Early Learning
Building Community
Promoting Attendance Initiatives
Empowering Advocacy
Fostering Engagement
Research shows that when families are actively involved in their children’s education, students demonstrate improved academic performance, higher attendance rates, and stronger social-emotional development. By empowering families with resources and knowledge through the STP series, VISD and VISD Connections aims to create a ripple effect that enhances outcomes for students across the district.
“Together, we can ensure our children have the tools they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally,” added Yvonne Rossman, Highlight Mobile and At-Risk Programs Coordinator. “The 'Stronger Together Parents' series embodies our commitment to bridging gaps and creating opportunities for all students.”
The STP series kicked off on November 19th at VISD Connections.
