HS Floral Students

The January 16th School Board Meeting was filled with gratitude and pride as students from Chandler, Dudley, Rowland, Torres, Vickers, and Mission Valley Elementary Schools, as well as STEM and Howell Middle Schools, came together to honor the Victoria ISD Trustees during School Board Recognition Month. These amazing students introduced and thanked board members, putting a spotlight on the trustees’ unwavering dedication and service to the district.

One student beautifully captured the sentiment of the evening, saying, “Trustees like you volunteer your time to make decisions that impact the lives of nearly 13,000 students, families, and staff. On behalf of all students, thank you for caring about our education, our future, and for making VISD a place where every student can grow their genius and find their ‘and.’”

Adding to the heartfelt evening, choir students from DeLeon Elementary, Howell Middle School, and theatre students Victoria East High School performed “You Are The Reason,” filling the room with a sense of gratitude and admiration. Their performance was a testament to the incredible talent and dedication of our students, and it was clear that their effort and energy came straight from the heart. You can view their wonderful performance on the Victoria ISD YouTube channel. It is moments like these that remind us how exceptional our students are and how many unique opportunities they have to shine in VISD.

Each year, trustees are presented with a special gift that reflects their invaluable contributions and the theme of the recognition. This year, in keeping with VISD’s student-centered approach, board members received custom door wreaths created by students in the Floral Design classes at Victoria East and West High Schools. These thoughtful gifts were crafted with care and creativity, showcasing the incredible talent fostered within VISD’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. The Floral Design students devoted weeks to planning, designing, and assembling each wreath, ensuring that every detail symbolized the trustees' dedication and commitment to the district.

Victoria ISD is incredibly grateful for our trustees. Their volunteer service and tireless commitment to our students make a lasting impact on the lives of nearly 13,000 students and their families. Moments like this remind us how fortunate we are to have such devoted leaders who ensure that every student in VISD has the opportunity to thrive, grow their genius, and discover their ‘and.’
