Attendance Boundaries and Rezoning

At the June 19 Regular Monthly Board Meeting, trustees reaffirmed their commitment to planning for the future by unanimously approving (7-0) the formation of a joint subcommittee and community task force focused on Attendance Boundaries and Rezoning.

During the May 15 regular meeting of the Victoria ISD Board of Trustees, the Board approved the formation of three strategic subcommittees to address key areas of long-term district planning:

  • Attendance Boundaries and Rezoning

  • Bond Action Committee (BAC)

  • VISD Underutilized Properties

This Attendance Boundaries and Rezoning Subcommittee and Community Task Force, composed of Board members, district staff, and community stakeholders, will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of current attendance boundaries across VISD. The subcommittee will examine enrollment trends, population growth, and school capacity data to determine whether boundary adjustments are needed to ensure more efficient and equitable use of facilities.

Their work will also consider transportation logistics, neighborhood integrity, and equitable access to specialized programs. The goal is to develop recommendations that balance enrollment across campuses while supporting academic achievement and opportunity for all students.

“Planning for the future of VISD means engaging our community in the process,” said Board President Micah Patton. “This task force gives us the opportunity to listen, learn, and make data-informed decisions that benefit all students.”

From May 19 through May 30, community members were invited to apply to serve on the Attendance Boundaries and Rezoning Task Force, and 17 applications were received.

On June 19, the Board selected the following seven community members to serve on the task force:

  • Willet Dean

  • Shanquil Fennell

  • Sarah Harper

  • Tami Keeling

  • Marci Louderback

  • Dian Patterson

  • Cindy Salinas

Board Vice President Rick Jones and Trustee Bridgette Marshall will serve on the Attendance Boundaries and Rezoning Subcommittee and the Community Task Force.

The task force will begin its work this summer, with regular updates provided at Board meetings and shared through VISD communication channels. Recommendations from the group are expected to impact potential changes in the 2025–26 school year.
