Stroman STEM Academy’s Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) classes completed their inaugural toiletry and snack drive on Thursday, Dec. 16.

Over the last couple of weeks, Stroman STEM’s AVID classes brought donations of toiletry and snack items. All items were packed into Ziploc bags with handwritten notes from students.

On Thursday, all the donations were picked up by Christ’s Kitchen for distribution to those in need. The AVID classes exceed their official goal of packing 416 bags by 100. In total, 516 bags were donated to Christ’s Kitchen.

“We are so proud of our students for stepping up and bringing in donations as well as working hard together, to get these items packaged and ready for distribution,” said Brandi Lyston, sixth grade STEM math teacher. “This project shows how working together as a community can have a significant impact for others”

Thank you to Lyston for organizing this project and to Brittany Lacerda, Tami Tipton, Melanie Sucher, Janie Carter, Sophia Salano, Ginger Vera and Beth Mesa for helping along the way. We appreciate your unwavering kindness to those in need. Thank you for making us #VISDProud.
